Hello World!
When I was a young girl, my grandmother had a bakery. Some of my fondest childhood memories include summers spent in Hazelton, Idaho, by my grandmas side, as she taught me my first lessons in the kitchen. It was there that my love for food and baking sparked. Into my adult life, a small piece of me dreamed of following in my grandmothers footsteps and opening a bake shop of my own. Although, that dream has never come to fruition, my love for cooking has continued through the years, but it has also merged onto a different path. My memories at my grandmas bake shop are still very vivid. I can still smell the maple glaze from her maple bars and the fresh baked cinnamon rolls coming out of the oven. Her amazing baked goods were loved by everyone that lived in that small town. I was her best “taste tester”… so good in fact that by the end of the summer, I could no longer button up my pants, but I will save that story for a different post. Long story short, that undeniable sweet tooth still haunts me, but I have learned the hard way that my diet needs to consist of much more than creations made from flour, butter and sugar. Although I still occasionally splurge and my love for baked goods is undeniable, I also realize that healthy, quick meals need to be a staple in every household.
Fast forward 30+ years, since my childhood days spent in the bakery, and you will probably find me to be a lot like you. A busy mom to two, extremely busy teenage boys. A full time employee, who struggles to balance the demands of work and home. A wife to a man that is my everything. Life is busy, too busy! Although it would probably be easiest to eat out EVERY SINGLE WEEKNIGHT, rather than come home and prepare a home cooked meal, I value the time that my small family spends gathered around the dinner table, sharing the details of our day. I have a very strong belief that this small daily task has a huge impact on our families. For this reason alone, I am finally taking a leap of faith and creating this page, where I can share healthy, quick recipes for the busy family. I hope you will follow along, but more importantly, I hope you will find delicious recipes that your family will love and that you will be able to spend more time with the ones you love, gathered around your kitchen table.
