Homestyle Chili
This thick and hearty homestyle chili will warm you right up during these cold winter months. It is loaded with ground beef, kidney beans and savory spices. Top it with shredded cheddar, green onions and sour cream, or pour it over a baked potato.

  1. Brown the ground beef until almost cooked completely. Remove the ground beef from the pan. Add the diced onion, jalapeño, bell pepper and garlic to the pan and cook in the leftover drippings from the ground beef. If using extra lean ground beef or turkey, you may need to add a little olive oil to sauté the onion and peppers.
  2. When the onion is translucent and the peppers are tender, remove from heat.
  3. Add the ground beef and pepper and onion mixture to a large stockpot, crockpot or Instant Pot.. whichever method you are using to cook the chili.
  4. Add all remaining ingredients and mix throughly.
  5. If using an Instant Pot, secure the lid and cook on high pressure for 30 minutes. If using a crockpot, cook on high for 4-5 hours, or low for 6-8 hours. If cooking on the stovetop, bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 35 – 45 minutes.
